Not too hot, not too cold. The weather could not have been better for our first Hiking Club hike. We set off on a nice 3-mile hike around Sterling Lake in Van Patten Woods.
The trail was in excellent condition, crushed stone and virtually no litter. We were prepared to bring out any litter we could find using our new found appreciation of “Leave No Trace” but thankfully we did not find many traces of past hikers, which is very impressive.
It was our first hike so we didn’t want to over-do-it. We made one lap around the lake and called it a day. This was fine with me; I was hiking with my 1-year-old strapped to my back. Thank you to everyone that attended, we had a great time. It’s good to just get out and enjoy the outdoors. See you on the next hike.
